Today we have a great interview with Loki Cosplay, an awesome Loki Cosplayer!
Khaleesi: Where are you from?
Loki Cosplay: I´m living in a village near Düsseldorf in Germany.
K: Why did you start cosplaying as Loki?
LC: Oh that is kind of a funny story. I have an obsession for villains and when I saw a girl dressed up as Loki on a cosplay website I thougt: Wow, this looks like a really bad ass character you’ll love. So do your best and don´t look at it anymore because it seems to be a difficult and really expensive cosplay. But guess what: I failed. I got information about what character it is, ordered the movies “Thor” and “The Avengers” and fell in love with the God of Mischief instantly. That was also the time “Thor – The Dark World” started in German cinemas. I watched it a few times and my love for Loki was only growing. So I started to create my first Loki cosplay: the battle version from “The Avengers”. Now after about one year cosplaying Loki I have already 5 Loki costumes and work on a few more.
I failed also on my promise: never cosplay a character from a “real” movie or TV show. It is always on my mind that there is this awesome actor (not Tom Hiddelston in particular) who plays the role and you and the audience compare yourself with the actor. And if you are a girl who tries to dress up like a man like him you surely feel bad. But now I think, ok, clearly I can’t look like him completely, but it is a great challenge to look like him as close as possible and also interpret the role so it fits me.
K: Do you role play with other cosplayers? If so, what has been the preferred scene? (from the film or invented)
LC: I don’t really role play. When I walk around a convention site I try to copy Loki´s attitude and if there are people trying to interact with me as Loki I play the role. For photo shoots I try to act as Loki. Do you all know Frostiron? Yeah, I love that really much that’s why I shot it a few times with my great Anthony ( http://animexx.onlinewelten.com/mitglieder/steckbrief.php?id=464036), but there are no specific scenes we play.
K: Did you create any part of your outfit?
LC: Yes, all of my cosplays I made by myself from head to toe.
I did all the sewing parts and armor parts by myself and always try to increase my skills. I also share it with other people from the community. That is the reason I held workshops on German conventions about building armor and props.
Especially Loki has been a great challenge because you need so many different skills for that costume. May it be sewing or building an armor including light technique. So I often thought this cosplay will never be finished.
K: Do you cosplay as just as Loki or also as Kid Loki, or Lady Loki?
LC: At the moment I have different Loki costumes finished like the Avengers version, a Jotun version, the Captain America dress and a basic teen!Loki version, but it is my plan to create every single Loki costume, so it will also include Kid Loki. ^^
K: What is your goal?
LC: A real goal? As I described in the question above I’d like to create every single Loki costume, so this must be my goal? I’m also trying to find a place in this community, to be part of it, so maybe I’ll try to find another way to share my passion and my knowledge with other people.
K: Which is your favorite picture you’ve taken so far?
LC: This is a tough question because I like many of the pictures. Every version I made of Loki is different and I like the locations and the atmosphere but I guess this one is my favourite because it was the first photo shoot for me as Loki and it was a really special day for me.
K: Which is your favorite Loki sentence?
LC: Satisfaction’s not in my nature!
I think everything he says is godly, but this is my favourite one because it reflects myself very well.
K: Have you ever Loki’d someone? How?
LC: Hmm, yeah, I think I’m a little mischiveous, too. Not as much as Loki, but I like to hide someone’s car keys or changing the code on a locker. I think it’s important that you identify yourself with the character you want to play. Also you should be familiar with the way he speaks or something like that. But please do not overdo it too much, like never try to kill your brother or dominate the world. 😉
